Where is the model number on my refrigerator?

Last checked October 28, 2026

On most refrigerators the model number tag is inside the fresh food section, on a side wall near the top or near the crisper drawers. Samsung's help page also points to a label on the outside, lower left side near the front.

4 steps

  1. Open the fresh food side. Most tags are on a side wall, near the top or near the crisper drawers.
  2. Check your brand's spots in the table below. Remove a crisper drawer if your brand lists the floor or the area behind the drawers.
  3. Take a photo of the tag so you can zoom in and read every character.
  4. Copy the full model number, including the ending (for example WRX735SDHZ00), and type it into the filter finder.

Tips from the makers: GE model numbers begin and end with a letter. LG says only the part before the period has to match, and its ThinQ app shows the model number on connected fridges. Whirlpool notes some models carry the sticker on the back panel.

Questions

Is the model number the same as the serial number?

No. The model number names the fridge design and decides which parts fit. The serial number identifies your one unit.

Does the ending of the model number matter?

Sometimes. A maker can use a different filter for a different ending, so our pages show the exact model or family the maker lists.
